An in-house cost-of-living app helped reveal the rising price of vegetables due to climate change.
We had a nice little win recently with a story published in the I Paper—covering the impact of climate change on vegetable prices, particularly carrots.
It's always rewarding to land a story that highlights important issues, but this one feels extra special because it's the first time we've driven a story using an app we've developed entirely in-house.
The app takes official data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and turns it into a simple, intuitive "cost of living receipt," clearly illustrating how prices have changed over time.
Want to know how the cost of a kebab or fish and chips has risen since 2020?
Wondering how much more you'll spend today on a night’s stay in a hotel, a theatre ticket and a bucket of popcorn?
Our app has the answers. The I Paper story is a great example of how accessible data can illuminate crucial topics like climate change's tangible effects on our everyday lives.
